There are a lot of indicators and different factors that can affect real estate. As I'm filming this, we've had the four worst days ever to start the year if you follow the DOW index. How does this affect real estate? We'll be talking about that today.

Real estate always comes down to supply and demand, and right now we're seeing a buyer's market for many luxury homes. This means that there are a lot of luxury homes available, which is good news if you're in the market for a new home. In Chicagoland, home prices also increased by 3.5%, which is a very healthy level of appreciation. This is a little under the national average, but it's still some nice improvement. We expect prices to increase by 4.6% this coming year. 

We're also projecting that nearly one million new single-family homes will be built around the country in 2016, and there were only 740,000 built this year in 2015. 

Mortgage rates are also increasing this year, and they're projected to hit 4.75% by the end of 2016. It's a great time to buy because interest rates aren't getting any lower. If you buy now, you can save thousands and thousands of dollars in interest over the life of your loan. As a seller, you can earn top dollar since many motivated buyers will enter the market due to rising interest rates.
