Considering Buying in 2015: Get Gateway Access to the MLS
This week, I share five things you need to do to get your home ready to sell! It's time to think spring, folks! The busiest season in real estate isn't far away, so it's time to start thinking about what you need to do in order to meet your selling goals!
- Clean up outside: Pick up leaves and other debris that may be making your yard look messy. I also recommend putting down a fresh layer of mulch and trimming up your plants. Make sure you also remove moss and mildew from patio furniture or your deck before listing your home.
- Declutter and depersonalize: If you have a lot of personal belongings around you home, make sure you box them up. You want every part of your home to look large and spacious. If a buyer thinks it looks cluttered, they will think there isn't adequate storage.
- Clean up inside: You want your home to smell fresh, and all evidence of pets need to be cleaned up and put away. Make sure mirrors and windows are wiped down and look like new as well!
- Stage: Only 10% of buyers can visualize a home the way they want it to be. Indeed, 90% of buyers will not be able to imagine the home in any way other than the way you have it set up.
- Get opinions: Interview different agents and stagers to get an idea of who will give you the best chance to get the most out of your home sale. Around 51% of homes failed to sell last year, and it's even higher for high-end properties.
